Indonesia is an archipelago of over 17,000 islands with a population of more
than 200 million, scatterd over a land area of some 2.02 million square
kilometers. Lying across a region of immense volcanic activity, Indonesia has
some 400 volcanoes, with at least 70 still active.
Bahasa Indonesia is the official language. English is frequently used in
commerce. The people are predominantly Muslim, minority religious groups being
Christians, Hindus and Buddhists.
Located between two distinct bio-geographic groups - Asia
and Australia - the flora and fauna of the archipelago is
also quite idiosyncratic. Species found nowhere else on
earth have flourished in certain areas, including the
famous Komodo dragon on the island of the same name. Also
in abundance are rare flowers, including exotic orchids,
unusual insects, birds of paradise and numerous indigenous
spices such as cloves, nutmeg cinnamon, mace and many
more.
Interesting destination.. Jakarta is the capital of
Indonesia, Bogor is about 60km from Jakarta, Yogyakarta is
the famous as a student city, the island of Bali is
blessed with the line of beaches surrounding it.
